My interest and tendency is to decide what I want to convey to and share with the viewer and representing it in a realistic manner.
In the painting Back Lighting I wanted to create the mood and feelings of happiness and freshness.
By using backlighting, I created a motif that gave me the mood and feelings that I desired to share with the viewer. This, and by using a Limited Pallet, resulted in the luminosity, shadows, value changes, harmony and vanishing edges needed for the happy and fresh feeling.
For me, creating the motif is the most difficult and time consuming part of the painting process.
